Too noisy for tent without earplugs. It's immediately off route 5, but what's louder are train horns 1am, 3 am. No lights in the bathroom all night ( said they'd reset the timer ) showers have hot and cold labels switched so you wait for the cold to warm up while your money runs out. Staff and neighbors were all great. Just a place to start the steep trail to castle crags
This is a great place for a pit stop. Castle Creek is absolutely crystal clear as it runs below the peaks and cliffs of Castle Crags. Some amazing views and scenery make this a worthwhile stop.
Nice Vista point that is wheel chair accessible. If you only have time for one thing, go here - good view if the castle crags and Mt. Shasta. There are several shorter trails that are good for all levels or you can hop on the PCT.
I camped here for two days and I love it! The hike up to Castle Dome was much harder than I was expecting. It is rated moderate but I would say difficult. The entire trail is uphill and it's about 4 miles up. Bring plenty of water. There are gorgeous views on this hike and the campsite is so comfortable with very friendly and helpful rangers!
Most beautiful place to camp, hike and swim. Hiking up to the Crags and Indian Springs is magical. The power here is phenomenal.. we frequent this part of the world because it's like nowhere else.
